Educational Support Team for Students with Exceptionalities
Support staff working with this category of students, both compulsory and additional, help dealing with the individual needs of the student. The Immediate Educational Placement (IEP) team would have the parents/legal guardians of the child, one of the child’s teachers and class instructors, a child with an educational disability trainer, a member of the administration responsible for the school management, or a school psychologist or other member that carries out assessment procedures. All these members actively participate in devising the student's IEP, putting it into effect, and assessing its compliance. Others, such as speech therapists, occupational and physical therapists, and assistive devices specialists may be added in as necessary based on the child’s IEP. Within this framework, external stakeholders manage the goals, resources, and activities assisting development and cultivation of general academic, social, and emotional skills of the student. The interrelation of these professionals extends the boundaries of problems solved by the teacher, making a complete picture of the pupil’s difficulties in learning how to resolve problems.
